Great ICT Project

Teachers and tutors of key stage pupils and students may be interested to know that completing an interactive yearbook satisfies many of the objectives required for ICT in the National Curriculum. Pupils/students have the opportunity to:

  1. Use a variety of IT equipment and software to manage photos & video
  2. Transfer photos and video from camera or mobile phone to computer
  3. Enter text, photos and video into their yearbook page
  4. Scan pictures/photos to create digital copies
  5. Enter, store, locate and retrieve different types of files
  6. Gain an awareness of different file types and file sizes
  7. Answer questionnaires
  8. Vote for year group awards
  9. Design a print for the CD
  10. Create a valuable memento of their time in education

DiscsAlthough yearbooks are usually put together when pupils/students prepare to leave their school/college, why not have yearbooks for other years in education or for a sports team or orchestra? Interactive yearbooks can be compiled as soon as pupils & students have the skills to use digital cameras & mobile phones, save and retrieve files, and access the internet. Compiling an interactive yearbook is a most stimulating and worthwhile ICT project for those in key stages two, three & four and it’s fun!

Teachers & tutors who are considering a interactive yearbook for their pupils & students should not forget to include themselves as one of the year group members. You are all a part of the experience and memory!

At the end of each academic year, pupils & students go home with little more than a carrier bag filled with exercise books destined for the dustbin - give your pupils & students an interactive yearbook that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.
